About the Ritz Theater

Our Ritz Theater was first created in the 1890's as it was just a foyer and the dream of a businessman who owned the downtown store front. Later in 1928 it gained 1 auditorium meant for live action performances and silent movies. It seated over 1,000 people during that time. Then around 1975 the auditorium was split into 2 screens and became known as the Ritz Twin Theatre. The theater was owned by the Thompson family for decades then purchased by Bob Knepp in 1986. It has since been purchased in 2023 by Mike and Meredith Reed and has had a full makeover keeping its historic regal charm. The Reed's have added new seating, carpet, counters, made bathroom upgrades, and painted the inside. The Ritz is one of few twin theaters left in our area and POSSIBLY the world.
